Treadmill Decks

There are generally three types of Treadmill Running Deck or Board used on Home Use and Commercial grade Running Machines. They can be either:

Plyboard: usually has wax granules hot ironed into the surface although long lasting these decks do require a rewax normally at least once per year

Phenolic Board: this is heat resistant and low moisture absorption often used with wax based lubes. These are normally identified by the matt black colour throughout the board

Smooth Black Laminate: is used by the majority of manufactures today and is made up of bonded MDF and covered in a hard wearing laminate. The better quality decks will always be laminated both sides to provide strength. This type of treadmill deck is preferred as it can be used with most lubes including Silicone, Liquid Wax, Dry Wax or Water Based Emulsified Lubes and when one side eventually wears out it can simply be turned over.
